Well unfortunatly my Grandson's school didn't make it to number on Power A Bright Future. I want to thank everyone who supported him and voted. He stood at #52 and needed to be number 1 to get the grant. Maybe something else will happen to bless his school with a playground.
This is what I harvested in just three days. Oh my gosh, guess I have to make salsa, tomatoe paste and sauce.
Please come and join The "Troy" Chavez Foundation and the students of The Escuela Tlatelolco in selling their produce at The Troy Chavez Memorial Peace Garden on August 28th at 8:00am to 12:00pm located on 3825 Shoshone St, Denver CO. Hope to see you there, it will be a good opportunity to see the work of the students and tour the garden.
It was a little cooler this morning than it heated up real nice. It's always nice when I have visitors in the garden. Today we had elders and students who are teaching and participating in classes on Curanderismo, they were real happy to be blessed in a surrounding of medicines.
Wow! It was a hot one today. I went to the garden thinking I was going to be alone but Denver Kids showed up to help me. They cleaned up our watermelon garden and pathways, then they contributed to the compost bin. Oops! Now that I think about it I forgot to close the lid and water it, oh well guess I'll do it tomarrow. I'm so glad I was out there to give all the plants a drink of water. I know how I feel after being there all day. Thank you so much Denver Kids for helping me today.
It's so peaceful to be at the garden. When I'm there alone all the critters come to visit me. I watch the birds take their baths from the sprinklers, it's so cute. Even though the garden is in the heart of the city, the city noise around gets drowned out by the beauty of the garden. As I water the garden my Troy always pays me a visit as well as Jeremy. They both always let me know their there as they flutter around the garden. Troy is my Yellow Swallowtail butterfly and Jeremy is a white one. Gardening is such hard work but so rewarding. I'm so greatful that the garden has so far been protected from the hail and the storms that have been hitting us this year.
I am so excited this year to see how the garden turns out. The students who are involved are finally showing a great committment to the garden. We've planted 35 different transplants that the youth started at school and seeds in the ground. The students have worked so hard this season. Thank you so much to The Colorado Home and Gardens for the funding we've recieved that allowed to get such an early start and have choices of what we want in the garden.
